Of course you will! MT School of Canada has access to a number of companies that have agreed to test our graduates. We provide a referral directory explaining where you may apply for jobs, along with contact information. We also help you create a great resume and have an entire module on gaining employment after graduation. That is, if you haven't already been offered a job before you graduate! Either way, we are there for you during your schooling and even after graduation.
No, the CMT designation (now CHDS - Certified Health Documentation Specialist) is only available via a national examination process through AHDI (Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity.). What you will have is a valuable diploma stating you graduated from our program. If you would like to take the national exam for your RHDS (Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist) we will give you detailed information upon graduation. For your convenience, we have provided some general information below.
A CMT is a Certified Medical Transcriptionist, now known as CHDS (Certified Health Documentation Specialist.). AHDI (Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity) offers certification through testing. You must have a minimum of two years' transcription practice (acute care or equivalent) before testing for your CHDS, although you may test for the RHDS (Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist) upon graduation. MT School of Canada's curriculum meets and exceeds AHDI's Model Curriculum for MT schools and more than prepares you to take this national exam.
Sure, we'd love to! The Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) is the professional organization representing medical transcriptionists. (There are also other organization as well.) AHDI offers testing which, if passed, will earn you your CHDS (formerly CMT) credential. AHDI recommends students have at least two years' experience before attempting the CHDS exam, although graduates are able to take the RHDS exam immediately upon graduation. Because of the interaction and the advanced studies within our program, our students can graduate with more than enough knowledge to pass their RHDS exam. Just another one of the MT School of Canada perks!
