These Internet courses will assist you in understanding the history of the Internet, and how to use the Internet for entertainment, communication, researching information, shopping, or simply having a blast! You'll be taught how to use a browser, download files, and how to find anything online. You’ll also learn how to use File Transfer Protocol (FTP). Because this is a course on the basics, you’ll even get the basics on how to send and receive e-mail.

Maintaining your PC -- Parts 1 & 2

These maintenance courses are more detailed than the “Maintaining Your Computer” course listed above. In these detailed courses, you will learn the following:

-Installing and configuring different types of input/output devices.
-How to diagnose and solved problems with input/output devices.
-Standard devices used to connect a PC to peripherals and networks.
-Installing and configuring memory, CPU, motherboard and storage devices.
-Handling the power supply unit.

These courses can benefit a person who simply wants more knowledge of their own personal computer. They will also benefit anyone who works with computers in the work place.

PC Computers

This is a package that includes the following courses:

-Build Your Own Computer

These courses are designed to teach you how to build and maintain your own computer which saves you hundreds of dollars over the life of your computer. Additionally, these courses teach how to maintain your modem, sound, and video. The introductory course “Getting Started” teaches you the fundamentals of personal computer – an overview of all the basics. These courses are for anyone desiring an in-depth knowledge of personal computers and/or who may wish to save much money by building and maintaining their own computer system.

Windows 98/95 and Windows XP

Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced training in Windows.

Each level of each course teaches all the different functions of Windows, in that particular software version, from basics to advanced. In the Beginning Windows 98/95 course, you will learn how to use the mouse, the desktop, and how to use shortcuts. You will learn how to create a folder, how to add programs to your start up menu, and how to name folders and handle files. You’ll also learn how to use the recycle bin, install a printer, format a disk, use the run command, and how to use add/remove programs.

The Intermediate level provides more in-depth training regarding the operating system functions.

The advanced level discusses how to modify the desktop and teaches all about menus, file types, customization of folders, and some system maintenance issues.

Also, you’ll learn about the control panel and display options. The Internet, keyboard, and Mouse applets are discussed. You’ll even learn about scripting hosts, support for multiple video cards, and advanced utilities.

The Windows XP introductory course teaches the basics of the Windows XP Professional operating system. You'll be introduced to the Windows interface and become familiar with the desktop, start menu, taskbar, folders, and icons.

You'll learn to navigate open windows by scrolling, minimizing, maximizing, and multi-tasking. You'll become familiar with Windows Explorer by finding, opening, saving and deleting files. You'll learn about folders and how to create, rename, move, and delete them.

The Intermediate Windows XP courses will expand your basic knowledge of Windows XP Professional. You'll learn to customize its interface by working with the desktop, taskbar, start menu, and My Documents. You'll become familiar with Windows programs by learning their basic components and functions. You'll look at the control panel by changing settings and adding/removing hardware and software.

The Windows XP Advanced course talks about more complex features of Windows XP Professional. You'll become familiar with system tools and learn to utilize them to maintain a healthy computer. You'll learn to use mobility tools, like remote desktop and remote assistance. You'll explore Windows Messenger and learn to communicate using your PC.

Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word is the most popular word processing software program in the U.S. If you intend to work in any office environment, we highly recommend learning MS Word from the Beginning through the Advanced level.

The MS Word package of classes come with training in several different versions of Word and all are Beginning through Advanced levels. The newer versions also go into new features that have been added to the program.

These two courses teach about e-commerce. You will gain understanding about what types of things are great to shop for on the Internet and which are not. You will learn to search for specific brand names using search engines, and you will learn how to send out a Shopping Bot to find the best deal on the Internet and let your proxy server do bidding for you at auctions! There is much more available free out there on the Internet, and these courses teach you how to access it.
